Read this before going for an INTERVIEW

Regardless of whether you're going for a school admission interview, scholarship interview or job interview, read this! I promise it will take less than a minute and it will be the most rewarding and insightful 1 min of your entire life.

It is the harsh reality that how you perform during the interview will determine whether or not you get the position of spot you're being interviewed for. Always remember, first impression counts!

1. Update your CV and even LinkedIn!

Your resume says a lot about you because that is the first thing your interviewer will look at to start off the interview. Make sure to update your education background, accolades and even list down certificates you're awarded with. In the working world, building of LinkedIn is extremely important for you to connect and get to know more professionals on the platform. You'll be surprised that it is also much easier to get a job if you are connected with a person working in that field or company you're interested in!

2. Prepare for your interview (at all costs)

This is very very very important. Important things must be mentioned 3 times haha! I cannot stress how much people failed to prepare for interviews, no matter how small it is. It is obvious whether you are well-prepared or not. You can prepare for some common questions such as your strengths and weaknesses, why you are suitable for the position, job scope suitability etc. Of course, there are exceptions but there is definitely no harm in preparing ahead right? ;) Be prim and proper for the interview.

3. Always smile and look at the interviewers in the eye

Don't! Don't avoid their eyes! Yes, I know this is VERY hard. I feel that their eyes are always shooting lasers. BUT, showing them that you dare to look at them in the eye and answer their questions prove that you have the confidence and you're determined! These are what interviewers will remember after interviewing perhaps 50 people? You want to be remembered for giving them your best smile :D and the confidence that exudes from you.

I too, have my own thinking and way around interviews. No matter how many interviews I have been to, i'll still get nervous and it is perfectly normal. How I hone my interview skills is by applying for many different part time jobs to get the opportunity to be interviewed. People my age tend to shun from interviews but I enjoy them. I will use this chance to train myself to speak under pressure so that I will be able to overcome and do well in an event of an actual interview! All right, i'm out aaaannd all the best!
